A Lecture Topic

     If you are anything like me, you probably would have cringed when you saw the title of this post. You might have thought, "A lecture? No thank you, I had enough of those in school," but I promise you, this is not a lecture, just a topic I could happily talk on for hours on end. There are many things I'm passionate about in life. My faith, my friends, family, writing, TV shows, and just life in general. Even though most of you probably would have said one of those things would be my topic, you're wrong. Something I'm extremely passionate about is music. Music has the power to transform someone's whole day and put a smile on your face. Music is said to have the ability to make someone in a bad mood become happy and even study harder just from one song. It is also said if you listen to just fifteen minutes before you go to sleep you will go to sleep faster and wake up easier. Pretty cool, huh? It has such amazing affects and I love it for that.
     Whenever I'm in a bad mood or just want something to listen to, music is always there for me when people are not. All the different harmonies, tones, and voices of all the different possibilities of songs will make your head spin if you think about it all for too long. One of the huge reasons I love music is because it has such a calming quality and will also evoke so many emotions in a little amount of time. A lot of times you love a song because it reminds you of something or someone, and I believe that is a big part of the whole realm of the music industry. Music portrays a story in three to five minutes that can touch your heart, make you view life differently, and change your entire mood in the hopes of changing someone else's.

My Favorite Quote

     I believe we all have that one favorite quote that has always stuck in our mind, one that keeps us going on the tough days, and for me, that quote is written by Jill Wolf. I first read this quote when I was given a journal two years ago, and it was on the front. I found it so inspiring and to this day I haven't forgotten it.

Don't Quit

"Don't quit when the tide is lowest,
For it's just about to turn;
Don't quit over doubts and questions,
For there's something you may learn.

Don't quit when the night is darkest,
For it's just awhile 'til dawn;
Don't quit when you've run the farthest,
For the race is almost won.

Don't quit when the hill is steepest,
For your goal is almost nigh;
Don't quit, for you're not a failure
Until you fail to try."

     I was going to add in quite a few of my other favorite quotes and inspire a whole long blog to them, but I've decided to leave it at that and maybe in the future I'll write another post, maybe even a few, dedicated to all my favorite quotes from life and, of course, TV shows. I hope you took something from that quote because it has kept me going for quite a long time!

What Are My Biggest Fears?

      I have three huge fears in this life. Fears are things we personally chose to be afraid of, most of the time, that is. Sometimes we don't have the choice to be afraid of something because of a terrifying previous experience, but for me personally, I chose to be afraid of three particular things. I am scared of alligators/crocodiles, sharks, and failure. I'm not quite sure where the fear of the water animals has come from, but what I do know is every time I see any of them on TV, or sometimes the rare experience of seeing them in real life, I freak out. Thankfully I've never been so close that I begin to hyperventilate, but I know if any ever got too close I would most likely have a heart attack. The thought of their stealthiness, swiftness, and pure eeriness about them is just too much for me to handle. For some, the thrill of being around animals of that nature is what keeps them feeling alive, so they chose to enjoy their time around them.
     The fear of failure, however, is much more common. It's something I believe we all feel at some point and time in our life.  It's the fear of letting someone, or some of the time, yourself down. Usually we have the power to control whether we do or do not let anyone down just by our actions but unfortunately, we don't always have that choice. If we are afraid of letting someone else down, it's for one reason and one reason alone. It's because we care enough about this person enough to give them our best and when we don't do that, whether it be our chose or not, we feel heartbroken because we couldn't meet our final goal. In the end, if we're lucky, the person we are trying to please loves and cares about us enough that they will forgive us and give us another chance to show them what we're really capable of. The next time you are given a project or an assignment, give it your all and see the effects that the action produces.

New Word

     New words are a fun thing, they are like new windows into our very own world. It makes our language and culture just that more exciting. I decided I would chose a word for the challenge today that I hear all the time, watching my slew of crime shows. The word is ascertain. It means to discover new information. I think that's a very cool word because it is not only "ascertaining new case information" but also just accessing new knowledge in general, such as when we're in school. We, as humans, have that ability to ascertain any information we want as long as we have the drive and motivation.

My Friends

     This August challenge has had quite a few blogs to do on friends, and I'm sure by now you all know who my friends are so I'm not going to name any names tonight, but I do want to say to those that are in my life a few words. I want to thank each and every one of you, even if we don't talk that much, for making a difference in my life. Anyone and everyone that I've ever spoken to has made a difference in my life, whether it be a good or bad experience with them, to make my life better. I've learned from so many people to learn from their mistakes and it has, in turn, succeeded in making me a better person. Thank you all so much for taking the time to be there for me and even just having a good time with me. I appreciate and love you all!

Charity; A Wonderful Thing

     Charity is a wonderful thing, it is pure generosity to a good organization trying to change the world for the better. Personally, I don't support any charities in the sense of finance at the moment, but my parents are associated with sponsoring a girl my age in India, paying for her education, clothes, and any other necessities, even clean water.
     That's something we don't think of everyday, we take all of those things for granted and sometimes are fed up with school but when we're having days like that, we just have to remember there are so many people that don't have the luxury of going to school and to better themselves, to give themselves an education. They don't have the opportunity to go to their kitchen sink and get a glass of water when they're thirty. Never, ever take things like that for granted. You never know, one day they might just be gone.

Hope That Shines in Our Future

     The future has always and always will be a scary thing. We don't have any clue to what it's going to be like, if we're going to succeed, or if we're going to fail. Of course we all want ourselves and people around us to thrive but the world's success all depends on the upcoming generation. It really doesn't matter if the previous generation was great, it all matters if the one moving forward has the drive to make the world a better place. Today's challenge is for me to write about something that gives me hope for the future and to be completely honest, in this day and age it's sometimes hard to look beyond all the hurt, controversial times and things in life, as well as each individual trying their hardest to stand up for their personal beliefs while others are pulling them down.
     I believe that the only thing that has ever given me hope for the future and forever will give me hope is that Christ IS coming back! One of these days when we least expect it, He is going to come and take all of us Christians to heaven and then we can finally get away from this world that pulls us down every single day. Until then, we have to do our best to stay strong, be an encouragement to others, and most importantly, lead others to Christ so they can come with us! If you have any questions about how you can go to heaven please never hesitate to ask me!

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whosoever would believe in Him will have everlasting life." - John 3:16

Shipping TIVA

     After nearly two years, I have discovered NCIS, fell in love with it, made so many friends from it, and have caught up on all ten seasons, including memorizing nearly every episode! In that time, I've named favorite episodes, a favorite character, and also a favorite couple. Over the ten seasons, there have been couples that have come and gone, but in the last eight seasons, one has remained the same and that couple would be two of the main agents on Team Gibbs, Tony and Ziva. Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David have been the main reasons for complete heart failure for many fan-girls around the world and I am definitely not an exception. With episodes like "Under Covers," "Boxed In," "Cloak," "Truth or Consequences," "Housekeeping," "Jet Lag," "Shiva," and "Berlin" just to name a few, it is extremely hard to not ship this couple.
     NCIS was the first show I ever really got invested into, so starting off with this show has proven to be quite a challenge for my emotions, but it's one I am willing to take. Tony and Ziva, or Tiva, is one of those couples that everyone knows is a couple except for them. They are soulmates but don't realize it. They complete each other but don't know it. Some fans of the show don't appreciate their relationship because they insist it "ruins" the show but I would beg to differ. With a chemistry like Michael and Cote's, there is no possible way to not have Tiva. Even if it was written out of the show, their burning glances and faint touches would completely destroy anything the writers were trying to do to turn their relationship back to just playful banter. In my eyes, Tiva is the best and most well-written relationship I've ever seen and even though Cote is not coming back for the whole of season eleven, I'm sure she'll have guest spots to keep their relationship sparking so I look forward to seeing what they do next!

Family; The Importance of It

     Family is the one thing that every single person has or has had before. We may not always know the people that brought us life, but we can feel them in our hearts; we know that they've been there and left a life-long impression which could have been good or bad. There is that one particular group of people in the world that we belong to, that loves us. The importance of family is more then we'd ever know, it's something we never really realize we have until it's missing or left behind. Though family is something usually thought of as people you are blood related to, I don't believe that in the slightest. Yes, we have the people we are related to that we care for and trust, but I've found that I trust more people that I'm not related to then ones I am. Whoever the people are that you care for and are cared for by, those are the ones that are considered family in our lives and should never, ever take them for granted. You never know, one day they could be here and then be gone. The next time you see someone that you consider to be your family, tell them that; don't ever waste the time you have with those special people in your life.

"Family is more than just DNA, it's about people who care and take care of each other."

My Favorite Celebrity Is....

     For those of you who have read some of my previous blogs, you may already know who my favorite celebrity is but I'm the kind of person who doesn't change their mind every day; so because of that, Michael Weatherly is still my favorite celebrity and I can't see that changing anytime soon.
     A few of the reasons that he is my favorite is not only for his looks, but because he can make you laugh extremely hard one second and then turn around and make you cry. In all the interviews I've seen of him, he always has a smile on his face and thoroughly seems to enjoy being there while graciously answering questions, not rushing to get out of there and get drunk.
     Surprisingly, someone this genuine and kind is also a fantastic actor. I say surprisingly because it usually turns out where a person will have a fantastic personality but poor acting skills, or vise versa, but in this case, he truly is the best of both worlds. Perhaps I'm biased because NCIS is my favorite show and forever will be, but I honestly believe that Michael is the best celebrity you'll find.

The Most Iconic Thing I've Seen Today

     Today's challenge is to take a picture of the most iconic thing I've seen all day. When I first saw this on the challenge list I was very curious to see just what would happen on August 2nd, thinking it'd be a magical day and maybe I'd see Obama riding across our street on a horse but nope, no such luck. Instead, I spent the majority of my day shopping (something I despise doing) at over twenty garage sales going throughout a whole town. With that said, nothing caught my eye that would interest any of you and what I chose probably won't either but it's the best I could come up with! After moving into our new house a month ago, we have been continuously filling up our garage with box after box until it was stuffed with boxes piling so as even the best mountain climbers would have difficulty reaching the top. Finally after unpacking 99% of our boxes, the movers came and took them away yesterday and today I had the privilege of taking the first picture of our car finally fitting in the garage! Though no one would call it iconic, I'd call it a miracle.
