Why I Love Swimming

My sport is swimming, for those who don't know. I started when I was eight and surprisingly I hated it when I first began. I've only really loved it for the past two or three years when I got to know my best friends! Once we became friends I started looking forward to swimming which was huge for me. Now that I'm more comfortable in my own skin I've been coming out of my shell and I owe it all to swimming and my friends. I know for a fact if I wouldn't have gotten into the water I'd still be that shy little eight year old. Swimming isn't just fun because I get to see my friends, it's a wonderful outlet when I've had a bad week or just need to wake up! Yes, there are those days you get annoyed with things like anything but in the end, it'll always have a special spot in my heart. It's what I grew up with, it's a part of me! Always have that one thing you can come back to when you need the outlet or just a reminder of what made you smile!

Our Authority

Parents are people that everyone has. Some people only have one parent or maybe you have foster parents. Either way, we all have people in our lives we look up to and have to follow their guidelines and rules. In a perfect world we would all get along like rainbows and unicorns but we live in a world that isn't even close to being perfect. Unfortunately, this new generation has come to kids being disrespectful and downright cruel to their elders. I'm not saying rules are fun to live by, no one likes to have rules that we don't want to follow. But, following them gives us more self-control and eventually more respect for the people giving them.
Most of you know that I am fifteen so you're probably wondering what I'm doing writing a blog about this. Well, lately I've been noticing a few of my friends and people I don't even know acting out more than usual and it bothers me. Don't get me wrong, I don't always follow what my parents say, no one can. It's in our nature. None of us are perfect, it's the way things work. But, we do have the self-control and ability to choose the right thing.
Some days are easier then others, but we should always try our best to do our best. This week really focus on what your parents are telling you, it'll make a huge difference in your day, trust me!

What to do Without NCIS...this week!

If you are a NCIS fan (most specifically a fan-girl), then you would know that CBS is trying to kill us with  a one-week hiatus. This usually doesn't set in as a reality for me until around 7:30 on Tuesday night and then I just sit there bawling my eyes out knowing we aren't going to get our weekly Gibbs or Tiva. With that being said, I've been asked to give some suggestions what to do to keep you occupied and your mind off the fact that we aren't getting a new episode. So, without further ado, here they are:

  • Watch NCIS fan-videos on youtube
  • Read NCIS fan-fiction
  • Go to bed early to dream about NCIS
  • Make up Tiva ideas in your head
  • Cry your eyes out in despair
  • Spend your night scrolling through NCIS photos
  • Listen to the NCIS soundtrack
  • Wish you were as perfect as Cote de Pablo
  • Wish you were as perfect as Michael Weatherly
  • Run around your house screaming about NCIS
  • Watch your favorite episode from your NCIS box set
I hope some of these ideas help keep you a bit calmer tomorrow when at 7:30 you realize there will be no new NCIS. Do, however, keep in mind that the next new NCIS will, in fact, be directed by our one and only Michael Weatherly!

Writing; Why I Love It.

Writing is relatively new to me, I just really delved into it in September. I've found it's a huge outlet for me, which is wonderful! I used to sit in front of the TV for all of my free time, and now I find I'm only watching about 30 minutes a day (Jeopardy) which is a humongous change for me! Now instead of completely frying my brain on nonsense, I'm actually accomplishing something, as well as opening a whole new door for my creativity.
Another plus is my essays have become easier to write as well as my vocabulary becoming better day after day. It has also inspired me to start this blog, which has been a huge blessing! It's given me another outlet to talk to you all more in depth, as well as express my points better. I am constantly thinking up new ideas for new stories, so as long as the ideas keep coming in, I hope to keep writing them out. One day I may stop writing NCIS fan-fiction (not any time soon, don't worry!), but I hope to never take writing completely out of my life. It has become too much of a part of me already to stop now!
Lately, I've been finding myself just wanting to write instead of doing school, which is something I never thought I would say! When I was younger I absolutely hated to write, it was almost like a disease when I thought about it. I suppose it was just because the only time I had ever experienced writing was just school-based and so in return it was always looked at as something negative. I thank Liz every day for getting me into writing, I have absolute no clue where my life would be without it. I know this for certain, it wouldn't be nearly as productive or exciting as it is now! It's so strange to have something all to myself, something I can create and do whatever I want to with.
So, if you are still wondering what my point is, well, it's this. Find something that can be your outlet. It's the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I know it will be for you too!

Standing Firm

In this day and age there are so many different opinions, feelings, and views on life. There is not one person on the face of this earth that hasn't had their opinion laughed at or mocked. Every single human being has a perspective on life and they are all different. My dad always says, "There are the way things are and the way things should be." Which is so true.
When you encounter someone who has a completely different view on things and ask your opinion most times they already know your answer. They are usually just luring you in so they can express their opinion to you and try and get you to change your beliefs. Sadly, this happens so often and even worse, many people fall for this and have their beliefs changed in an instant.
When you are asked what you believe in and your answer isn't the "right" answer, more often then not you are tempted to lie and say, "Oh yea, I believe in what you do." So you can keep a friend or trying to 'go with the flow'. Whatever you do DON'T DO THAT! You have to stand firm in what you as an individual believe. If you can't stand up for yourself how can you stand up for others?
That is my thought of the week, I hope you take this blog to heart!
